Timestretch in Wavosaur for free!! Leave a reply. Time stretching (and time expanding!) is an useful feature for those who produces remixes, mashup / bootleg, or want special FX. The FFT pitch shift can be long to compute, you can also use free pitch shift VST plugins instead of the native Wavosaur effect. If you want 'less extreme' time stretching, you can use a program which contains the SoundTouch library. It produces high quality extreme sound stretching. While most sound stretching software sounds bad when trying to stretch the sounds a lot, this one is optimized for extreme sound stretching. So, the stretch amount is unlimited.
Xenakios has released PaulXStretch, a freeware time-stretching VST and AU plugin based on the PaulStretch extreme time-stretching algorithm.
PaulStretch is the most popular third-party freeware tool for audio time-stretching, capable of delivering extreme changes in sample speed/tempo without affecting the pitch. Of course, some amount of time-stretching distortion is always present, but this is often used as a creative effect. The software’s single drawback is the fact that it can’t be used within a digital audio workstation because it isn’t available as a VST or Audio Unit plugin. As a result, the users need to take the offline workflow route which defaults to applying the time-stretching algorithm in a separate app (Paul’s Extreme Time Stretch) and then importing the processed audio file back into the DAW. This all changes now with the release of PaulXStretch.

The VST/AU plugin version of PaulStretch loads like any other virtual effect and provides instant results. The workflow is quite simple. Load it as an insert effect on an audio channel, press the Capture button to record a portion of the audio into PaulXStretch’s internal buffer, and make sure to turn off Capture mode when you’re done. From there, you can isolate any part of the recorded audio with the sample length slider and proceed with the actual time-stretching of the content. The control scheme is the same as in the standalone version of PaulStretch and allows the user to go quite a bit into detail with audio processing. Whereas some of the advanced functionality is not for the faint of heart, the most important actions like time-stretching and pitch shifting are easy to pull off with just a couple of clicks.
Performance-wise, PaulXStretch does a pretty good job even in this relatively early phase of development. The author is releasing new versions on a regular basis, fixing bugs and improving the overall user experience. As far as freeware time-stretching VST plugins go, PaulXStretch is easily the best one you can download right now. It currently works in 64-bit plugin hosts on Windows and macOS, with a Linux version expected for release later on. Support for 32-bit digital audio workstations is not planned.
PaulXStretch is available for free download via Xenakios(2.8 MB download size, ZIP archive, 64-bit VST & AU plugin formats for Windows & macOS).

PaulXStretch – VST2/AU Plugin for extreme time stretching and other spectral processing of audio
Time Stretch Vst Download Free
This plugin is based on the PaulStretch algorithm. (Paul’s Extreme Time Stretch, originally developed by Nasca Octavian Paul.)
No manual or demonstration video exists at the moment, but some information follows :
The plugin is only suitable for radical transformation of sounds. It is not suitable at all for subtle time or pitch corrections and such. Ambient music and sound design are probably the most suitable use cases.
The plugin can either load an existing audio file from disk to process or it can capture audio from the plugin inputs. (The capture mode is started/stopped with the “Capture” parameter.)
The plugin will require the DAW audio engine to be running on the track it is inserted on. How that is achieved in various hosts is specific to those hosts. Some hosts will just immediately start running the plugin, in other hosts one may need to record/input monitor enable the track or something else needs to be done.
The plugin has lots of latency, that isn’t reported to the host as it likely can’t be properly compensated for, anyway.

Host automation does work, but in a laggy fashion and likely not completely deterministically. (Different play runs may produce different results.) This unfortunately can’t be helped much. The algorithm can only change the processing parameters between fully processed FFT blocks.
Lots of thanks to everyone who has donated so far!
I have tested that the plugin loads and runs in :
Windows : Cockos Reaper 5, Ableton Live Lite 9, FL Studio, Plogue Bidule, JUCE plugin host (which may indicate it works in Tracktion/Waveform).
Mac Os : Cockos Reaper 5 (VST), Ableton Live Lite 9 (VST), Apple GarageBand (AU), Plogue Bidule (VST).
The plugin may well work in other hosts, but I am not able to test and debug with all of them.

/download-dev-c-compiler-for-windows-8-414.html. There may be problems when doing offline rendering/export in Cubase. A workaround to get the plugin output into a final mix is to record the output of the plugin in real time by some means into an audio track and bypassing/removing the plugin before doing offline exports. (This may be a sensible workflow in other hosts too…)”
